First Great Lakes Piping Plovers of 2019 Arrive
The first Piping Plovers of the 2019 Great Lakes nesting season have begun arriving. Two were reported in the southern Great Lakes on April 15th. Today on April 16 the first plovers returned to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Males usually arrive first and set up territories, but the females will begin arriving soon. Another nesting season has begun.
